Henry Jackson “Jack” Land, age 93, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at River Pointe Health Campus.

Jack was born December 15, 1924. He was the sixth of seven children of Charles D. Land and Maggie Mae (Coomer) Land of Lawrenceville, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Gladys (Clay) Roberts of Bridgeport, IL and Grace (Wilfred) Kocher of Vincennes, IN; his brother, Joseph (Norma) of Lawrenceville, IL; his sister, Marjorie (Carl) Fisher of Lawrenceville, IL; his sister, Dorothy Land of Evansville, IN; and his sister, Alice (Lloyd) Jacobs of Bridgeport, IL.

Jack married Betty Jo Cunningham on November 2, 1946. They lived in Evansville, IN where he was a superintendent for Bedford Nugent Sand and Gravel Company. The company later changed owners and was renamed Mulzer Crushed Stone where he retired in 1990. The couple had three children: John (Jayne) of Tell City, IN, Pamela (Rudy) of Munster, IN, and Michael (Kelly) of Jasper, IN. They had six granddaughters: Jennifer of Tell City, IN, Jamie (Jason), Evansville, IN, Raechelle (Duane), San Marcos, CA, Richelle (Ben) of Salt Lake City, UT, Whitney (Chad) of Carmel, IN, and Kasey of Carmel, IN. There are four great-grandchildren: Kendall, Jaxon, Landyn, and Trace. Betty preceded Jack in death on May 26, 2006.

Early in life, Jack was a member of Old North Methodist Church where he was involved in the men’s organization, and later, the Methodist Temple. Jack loved fishing, golfing, and gardening. He was known for his roses and a lush, green lawn. He inherited his father’s mechanical ability to repair just about anything. Jack enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge.

In 2014, Jack entered River Pointe Health Campus, Evansville, IN, where he called “home.”

Jack loved meeting people, hearing their stories, making them laugh, and sometimes blush. He is loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
