Robert “Bobby” Hoffman, 83, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Deaconess Henderson Hospital.
He was born in Henderson, Kentucky, on November 26, 1940, to the late Harry and Virginia Hoffman. Bobby was a self-employed mechanic most of his life. Even as a youngster he was making led fishing sinkers from spoons to learning to work on cars and lawnmowers at his dad’s garage “Hoffman Brothers Garage.” Bobby taught mechanics at Camp Breckinridge for many years. He never met a stranger and had delightful sense of humor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Hoffman; his granddaughter, Allie Kirtley; a stepdaughter, Sherri Barnard; and one sister, Mary Lou Sugg.
Survivors include his significant other and caregiver, Sherry Wilhite; one daughter, Vicki Kirtley and her husband, Michael, of Eddyville, Kentucky; one son, Greg Hoffman of Eddyville, Kentucky; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Elaine Benson and her husband, Pascal, of Henderson, Kentucky, Ruth Brinkley and her husband, George, of Newburgh, Indiana, and Sue Fowler (Charles Krampe) and Virginia Hoffman (Phillip Crowdus), both of Evansville, Indiana; many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2024, at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. Father Chritopher Grief will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
